Hugrún goes exploring
A post by Hugrún Lind Stefánsdóttir
This
week was very fun and we learned a lot more about our Icelandic heritage and
past. I learned a lot about how Icelandic sagas were made in the past that I
did not know about that well before. I also learned about how closely related
all Icelanders are to Snorri Sturlusson and how every Icelander is most likely
related to him. It was very fun to take the Hungarians to the social Center in
Garður and to see them have a lot of fun. I think that the highlight of the
trip was when we went on electric scooters around Reykjavik and we just saw how
much fun the Hungarians had on them. I think that the most interesting activity
was the elf school. Some of us went to compete with the headmaster to see who
could eat an Icelandic pancake with jam and whipped cream the fastest and the
headmaster usually won but Kristjana, our teacher, won him when she ate A WHOLE
pancake in one bite! She didn’t even chew! But the elf school was very
interesting and we had a lot of fun. The first whole day we went to Reykjavik
and went to Þjóðminjasafnið and then we had 2 hours of free time where we went
down town and saw Hallgrímskirkja and we went up and took some photos. Then of
course we went to the elf school. The 2nd day we went to Borgarnes where we
went to Snorrastofa and a museum about Egill Skallagrímsson and more, the third
day we went to the saga museum and it was a lot of fun, we also went to fly
over Iceland and horse back riding where Þórir found out that he is allergic to
horses. And the last day that we have programs we were doing some workshop
stuff, we went to Fablab to make a souvenir and then we went the Golden Circle.
