A post by Júlían Breki Elentínusson In this really interesting trip I learned a lot about Vikings like Egill Skallagrímsson, his father Skallagrímur Kveldúlfsson and Hrafna Flóki. We also learned about Icelandic horses who are different from almost every horse in the world because they are really small (which leads people to believe they are ponies) and they have a so called fifth gait that other horses don’t have called tölt. Lastly I learned about Icelandic literature and the most famous writer Snorri Sturluson who has had a lot of influence on literature all around the world, but the most interesting activity has to be the saga museum that we did on day three and that is mainly because the wax sculptures were so realistic that I actually thought for a moment that they were real people (that stopped when I touched their ears and they didn’t react) but outside of the agenda was where the real fun began.
